Thanks for the comment. You are probably right, IronRuby has evolved over the last year. Only problem is that Cloudhead has also abandoned the Ruby Less project and moved on to less.js, so there is no real point in trying to run Less on IronRuby any more.
We also made progress here on the .NET front and ported less.js to .NET through the dotless project (http://www.dotlesscss.com).

greetings Daniel

Very cool. Here are a couple ideas:

1) The "2,228 files" problem can be easily handled. IronRuby (and other well implemented DLR languages) use a "PlatformAdaptationLater" instance to manipulate file system entries. The default PAL uses the System.IO namespace to access your HDD, but there's nothing holding you back from creating your own virtual file system of sorts. It's pretty straightforward to create a PAL that provides access to assembly resources, in which case you can bundle all of the *.rb files into the assembly itself.

2) IronRuby is probably a lot more zippy, now that it's been 10 months since your post :)

3) The line ending problem could probably be handled if you just remove all occurrences of 'r' before processing.

Cheers,
-Charles
